Yes, I voted for Trump. Yes, I’m glad he won. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that your life is automatically going to get better. While he’ll improve economic, national and global conditions overall (depending on how much the authoritarian left is able to oppose and impede him… and how many more lawsuits they’ll throw at him), it’s still up to individuals to decide how much of an effort they’ll make to take advantage of these new policies and opportunities, whatever they may be.
It wasn’t so much Donald Trump the man that many of us voted for per se. It was a vote against continuing the madness and radicalism poisoning the country. It was a vote for regaining some semblance of sanity and morality. Trump and his cabinet may set the policies, but it’s up to the common people to take advantage of them, and not wait for him to fix everything himself.
Otherwise, there’s going to be a lot of jaded voters. I predict that this will happen. I can easily see the House, the Senate or even both flipping back to Democrat control in the midterms due to disaffected voters. Too many people are concerned with “what is he going to do for me?” Not “what can I do to for myself and make my life better?”
It’s not much of a prediction. It happens almost every election. Sooner or later, the winners get overconfident. They relax their guard. The next thing they know, the power has shifted to the other side, and they come back with a vengeance. That’s why you need to take advantage of those policies while you can. Because eventually, the next guy will take them away.
I know the counterargument will be that “Trump himself isn’t a moral person, so how are we supposed to retake morality?” I won’t argue with that. Everyone knows his indiscretions. You can’t help but know. The media never shuts up about it. But all of us, every single one, is guilty of immoral behavior. No one is guilt free.
Unless you’re a psychopath.
Just ask yourself “if you were running for president and you were investigated by the media, how well would you do?” How much would you still be willing to run?
